Captain Nik Mardesich was born in Everett, Washington, and raised in the rugged waters of the Pacific Northwest and Alaska, where he developed a deep respect for the sea at an early age. Growing up on Guemes Island near Anacortes, he spent his childhood navigating tidal currents, exploring remote shorelines, and fishing the rich waters of the San Juan Islands. Coming from a commercial fishing family, he learned the trade hands-on and built his experience working in demanding conditions from a young age. He continues that tradition today, spending his early summers running a commercial salmon vessel in the challenging waters of Bristol Bay, Alaska
Fourth-Generation Fisherman
As a fourth-generation commercial fisherman, Nik continues his family’s long-standing tradition on the water. Each summer, during June and July, he captains his commercial salmon vessel in Bristol Bay, Alaska, where he has worked alongside his family since the age of 10. This lifelong connection to the fishing industry has shaped his experience, work ethic, and deep understanding of the ocean.

With a lifetime spent navigating these waters, Nik is a seasoned and highly capable mariner known for his skill, judgment, and reliability at sea. He holds a USCG Master 50-Ton Near Coastal license and has operated commercial vessels in both Washington and Alaska throughout his adult life, gaining experience in some of the most demanding marine environments in the world. His background ensures every trip is run with a strong commitment to safety, professionalism, and the kind of hard-earned confidence that turns time on the water into a true experience.

Our boat
Our vessel is a 28-foot custom-built, fully welded aluminum boat, designed for the demanding conditions of the Pacific Northwest and built for durability, safety, and performance. Powered by a 2025 Yamaha F300 main engine, it delivers fast and efficient transit, while a Honda 15hp auxiliary kicker provides added reliability and peace of mind. The center console walkaround layout offers easy movement and functionality, and the vessel is equipped with a hydraulic crab block for safe and efficient operations. Outfitted with U.S. Coast Guard–certified safety equipment and modern marine electronics, the boat is designed to carry up to six passengers comfortably, ensuring a safe, seaworthy, and dependable experience on every trip.
